This website is more than a place to find beautiful artistic photography. It is also a vehicle that supports the efforts of The Davissa Ranch Horse Refuge in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The ranch, owned by photographic artist, David Wilson and his wife Melissa, is a refuge ranch for retired working horses. These horses have served in many capacities from things like ranch work to show and rodeo work. When the horses became seniors and could no longer work as efficiently as in younger years, they are often displaced and have nowhere to go. After a lifetime of work and service to humans, they deserved better than this. The Davissa Ranch is a place where these horses are able to live out whatever time they have left on earth. The horses are cared for, loved, and given a solid, stable, and safe home to simply be horses. Nothing is asked of them, and no demands are made of them. They are simply allowed to be horses. In addition to an amazing retirement some of the horses participate in our equine encounter therapy. This is something we offer to local organizations such as hospice, first responders, and other community organizations. The horses provide a calming, peaceful and uplifting environment to those who encounter them.
